President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, on Monday met with Hamid Karzai, Former President of the Republic, Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation, and Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, Jihadi Leader at Presidential Palace (Arg).
Based on the Presidential Palace statement, the meeting focused on ceasefire, violence reduction, political consensus, and the provision and maintenance of “desired peace”.
During the meeting, President Ghani said that “throughout the current sensitive situation of the country, consultations with political figures and different sections of the people will continue in regards to the peace process”.
This comes as peace talks in Doha are ongoing and no effective progress has been made in the second rounds of the talks.
On the other hand, a high-level Taliban delegation has arrived in Iran today, the delegation is reported to discuss the peace process and assess refugee situations in the country.
