Indonesian authorities said they have found the location where the lost plane was in contact with the air traffic tower, the Boeing 737-500 crashed into the sea shortly after taking off from the Capital of Jakarta on Saturday.
The Sriwijaya commercial airplane carried 62 individuals when it disappeared from the radar four minutes after taking off.
At least 10 rescue ships were deployed to the location for a rescue operation, BBC reported.
More than 50 people boarded the plane including seven children, three babies, and 12 others were crew members.
The plane was bound to travel from Jakarta city to Pontianak province, rescuers are said to have found human body parts and debris at the crash site, some pieces of the fuselage in the sea were also discovered.
Indonesian authorities are hopeful the Sriwijaya air flight wreckage is found after picking up a signal that could have come from the plane’s black box.
Rescue officials told SkyNews, that the signals were found in “two points” which could be from the plane’s recording box.
At just four minutes the plane following the flight from Jakarta the plane crashed carrying 62 passengers, the plane is said to be able to carry 130 passengers.
Media reports, the plane was in the flight service for 26 years.
