Bamyan Police Chief said the Taliban attacks on security checkpoints in Shibar district of the province have been repulsed.

According to Bamyan Police’s press release, around 7:50 pm last night, Taliban fighters attacked the checkpoints of Baghak village in Shibar district from Tala-wa-Barfak area of baghlan province.

According to the reports, two policemen were killed and one was wounded.

The Taliban clashed with the afghan police force following their attacks, which last until 10 am this morning.

Reports indicate, Taliban support teams under the command of Mohammad Sadeq, Bamyan’s security chief were dispatched to Baghak village, but were ambushed by the insurgents while crossing Shikari valley that delayed their reach to the area.

Bamyan Police stated, the area is currently under the control of Afghan security forces.

Bamyan is considered one of the safest regions in the country for the past several years, and has not experienced any clashes. But there are concerns of Taliban offensive attacks from Tala-wa-Barfak district.
