UN Security Council extends the United Nations mission in Afghanistan for one year.
Yesterday, UN Security Council members, through majority votes, unanimously endorsed a resolution 2543 (2020) extending the UN Mission in Afghanistan.
UN council also voiced their support for Intra-Afghan talks and called for a permanent ceasefire in Afghanistan.
The United Nations Security Council has called for an end to the ongoing war in Afghanistan and for a permanent ceasefire and stability in the country.
The UN Security Council called the start of inter-Afghan talks a positive step, and announced a strong prop up to the negotiations.
This comes as Intra-Afghan talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban have begun, and the Afghan government and many foreign countries are calling on the Taliban to establish a permanent ceasefire in Afghanistan.
